Scar revision, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) or micro-needling, is an aesthetic procedure for scars that stimulates the cells in the affected area to produce collagen to replace the damaged scar tissue. Studies show that individuals that have undergone this procedure report 80-90% improvement in their scar appearance without damage to the surrounding tissue.
Conducting CIT on scar tissue disrupts the old collagen fibbers that connect the scar and induces the normal wound healing process which acts to replace the collagen that is broken down within the scar. This procedure can be used on scalp scars, acne scars, stretch marks, surgical scars and more. Positive results have been seen with both raised and depressed scars. CIT has been shown to raise a depressed scar to skin level or lower a raised scar to skin level to minimize its appearance. The procedure has also shown to improve the pigment of the scar, returning it to the colour of the surrounding tissue.
Treatment Process
Topical anaesthetic will be applied to the treatment area to ensure the client is as comfortable as possible.
The treatment duration is dependant on the size of the scar or the area the scar covers. The treatment may require several sessions to achieve the maximum result. A period of 1 month is required between each session.
Cost
The cost varies with the type of scar and the amount of sessions that are required. Our technicians will be able to provide you with a specific estimate in the consultation process.
